Govt. removes Rs. 3 per kg duty concession on wheat flour.

The customs duty concession of Rs. 3/- that was provided for a kilogram of wheat flour will be removed, State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has said.

However, The Minister further said that this will not result in a change of wheat flour price. The State Minister stated this while speaking to the media after attending an event in Avissawella area today (7).

The Minister further stated that by re-imposing the customs duty of Rs. 3/- per kilogram on wheat flour, which is the main substitute for rice, wheat flour prices will be managed to protect the 90% of subsistence level paddy farmers.
