Chinese and Indian Warships Depart Sri Lanka After Joint Exercises

The trio of Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy warships—"HE FEI," "WUZHISHAN," "QILIANSHAN"— as well as Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mumbai departed Sri Lanka after a successful formal visit that began on 26th August.

Before their departure, the Chinese warships conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with SLNS Vijayabahu.

INS Mumbai also engaged in a successful PASSEX with SLNS Gajabahu, involving communication and tactical maneuvering exercises, and concluded with the cheer ship salute.

Port calls by foreign naval ships are crucial for fostering collaboration among naval forces and strengthening diplomatic ties, said the Sri Lanka Navy.

These visits facilitate joint naval exercises and training while allowing for the exchange of knowledge and information on unique maritime environments. This exchange is particularly beneficial in addressing shared maritime challenges, added the Sri Lanka Navy.
