Wanindu Hasaranga picks up his first T20I hat-trick

Wanindu Hasaranga picked up his first T20I hat-trick to take Sri Lanka closer to victory over South Africa in their chase of 143 in Sharjah.

The first turning point of the match during South Africa's innings was the 3rd over bowled by Dushmantha Chameera where he took the wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock. This slowed South Africa progress as they were restricted to 62 for the loss of 3 wickets at the half way stage.

Wanindu Hasaranga's hatrick has now set the match in an intresting position.

Batting first Sri Lanka managed an under par 142 all out in their 20 overs, after they were sent into bat by the South African skipper who won the toss.

The big news for the day was the decision by Quinton de Kock to take the knee after sitting out against West Indies due to this issue.

Pathum Nissanaka was the star for the day with a 58 ball 72 that held the innings together as wickets fell at the other end. Charith Asalanka looked in fine form before he was needlessly run out while Kusal Janith continues to be only a shade of himself both with the bat and behind the wickets. Sri Lanka might be concerned with his keeping with several straightforward dropped chances, the one against Australia probably costing Sri Lanka the match while today he dropped the South African skipper.
