CCTV footage of an incident where an employee of a food processing establishment in the Ketawalamulla, Dematagoda was assaulted by a group including a Dematagoda Police Inspector is being circulated on social media these days.

When inquired about this incident, the owner of the food processing company where the assaulted employee worked said that this was a process taking place with the consent of the previous owner of the plot of land on which his business premises are located.

He further told the Hiru News team that the land on which his business premises are located was purchased in 2011 for Rs. 15 million.

However, he alleged that the person who sold the land, along with the Dematagoda Police continued to harass his business and place of business from time to time.

The businessman alleged that the OIC who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police last week while serving as the Dematagoda Police Headquarters Inspector was also seriously involved in these incidents.

The businessman states that although he has lodged a complaint with the Dematagoda Police regarding the injustices he continues to suffer, they are not taking appropriate action.
