A multi -vehicle collision was reported in the Arachchikattuwa area along the Chilaw- Puttalam main road last evening.

Four vehicles, including a van, three-wheeler, and a motorcycle, had been involved in the accident.

A van that had been plying from Puttalam to Chillaw is reported to have collided with a three-wheeler, after which it had hit a motorcycle and topple over on to a bicycle by the side of the road.

A couple that were on the bicycle had jumped off and had managed to save their lives by avoiding being hit by the van.

Six people who were injured in the accident have been admitted to the Chilaw hospital, while one person is reported to be in a critical condition.

The accident is suspected to have occurred as a result of the driver of the van being unable to control the vehicle due to speeding.

The Arachchikattuwa Police is conducting further investigations into the accident.
