30-40 people seriously injured daily from road accidents
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana states that 08 persons have been killed in road accidents in the past 24 hours.
He further stated that between 30 and 40 people are injured in road accidents every day.
The police spokesman said that the main causes of these accidents are drunk driving, reckless driving and mechanical and technical faults in vehicles.
Meanwhile, the police states that traffic operations will be carried out for three days from today (22) to identify vehicles with such faults
