27,000 kilos of waste destroyed on court orders resurface in Wattala

The Negombo Divisional Crime Investigation Division has commenced a special investigation regarding the resurfacing of a stock of waste tea taken to the Kochchikade - Ovitiyawatta Garbage Yard for destruction on court orders.

On January 14, the Seeduwa Police found 27,000 kilograms of waste tea in a warehouse in Kotugoda.

The case was taken up at the Negombo Magistrate's Court ordered the 27,000 kg of waste tea to be destroyed,.

Accordingly, the waste tea has been transported to the Ovitiyawatta garbage yard in 05 lorries to be destroyed on March 03.

However, according to information received by the STF, a raid was carried out on a stock of waste tea in a warehouse in Wattala recently and 4 suspects were also arrested in connection with it.

It has been revealed that this waste tea was part of the same stock of waste tea taken to the Ovitiyawatte garbage yard to be destroyed on a court order.

Accordingly, investigations have been launched into the resurfacing of the waste tea at the warehouse in Wattala
