SL will work directly with investors to develop Western Terminal - Indian Foreign Ministry

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Government of Sri Lanka is working directly with Indian investors to develop the Western Container Terminal at the Port of Colombo.

Its spokesman Anurang Srivastava told a media briefing in New Delhi yesterday that the statement issued by the Indian High Commission in Colombo was incorrect.

He also stated that the High Commission has informed the Sri Lankan government about this development.

He was responding to a question regarding the Cabinet approval to develop the Colombo Port Western Container Terminal jointly with India and Japan.

The Indian journalist inquired whether the Government of India had been officially notified of the project and whether it had been accepted.

He also asked whether action would be taken to avoid the risk of canceling the project due to trade union protests. However, a spokesman for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said it was not a deal with the Indian government
