Sri Lanka’s T20I hat-trick record extended
Akila Dananjaya’s hat-trick in yesterday’s match against the West Indies meant that Sri Lanka extended its lead in another T20I record.
With yesterday’s hat-trick, Sri Lankans have now taken four T20 International hat-tricks, 2 more than any other country.
Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan have 2 T20I hat-tricks each, while four other countries record one each, in a total of 14 hat-tricks taken in T20 international cricket so far.
Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga has a record 2 T20I hat-tricks under his name, including the famous 4 wickets in 4 balls he took against New Zealand in 2019, while Akila Dananjaya now joins Thisara Perera as the other Sri Lankan who has a T20I hat-trick under his belt.
