Maharagama police sergeant arrested on bribery charges
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has arrested a sergeant of the Maharagama Police for accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000.
CIABOC Director SSP Padmini Weerasuriya stated that the bribe was taken from a Canadian national.
The Maharagama Police have arrested a cab belonging to the Canadian national on criminal charges and the police sergeant has requested the bribe not to oppose its release
