PM instructs to increase university facilities

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed officials to provide funds to improve the facilities of universities in comparison to the additional students that were enrolled into the universities.

That was at a discussion held with the partcipation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, University Grants Commission officials, and Vice Chancellors of Universities.

This time an additional 10,588 students were enrolled in universities. The Prime Minister has instructed that in addition to the financial allocations provided for children, these additional funds should be released to universities in a phased manner.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Government Medical Officers' Association Dr. Senal Fernando stated that according to the agreements reached, the environment should be created for a student who completes a five year medical degree to become a doctor at the age of 22 or 23
