Power outages reported in Colombo & suburbs
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has stated that it will investigate the alleged temporary power outages in the suburbs of Colombo.
CEB Chairman Engineer, Vijitha Herath told the Hiru News team that no special maintenance work is being done these days except for normal maintenance. However, the Chairman pointed out that the public could be informed of intermittent power outages.
Meanwhile, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board states that drinking water supplied to Colombo as well as areas outside Colombo will be available under lower pressure due to the prevailing dry weather conditions.
However, a spokeswoman said that under the current circumstances, no attention has been paid to water cuts at this time.
Madhawa Lalith Amaratunga, Officer in Charge of the Kalatuwawa Water Supply Scheme urges the public to use sparingly in Meepe, Padukka, Homagama, Maharagama and other suburbs of Colombo as the water level of the Kalatuwawa Reservoir has dropped by 30 feet.
Many people in several areas have also been affected by the drought.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board stated that a bowser will provide drinking water to them.
