Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the officials to take steps to complete development projects as soon as possible to meet the expectations of the people.

He was speaking at a progress review meeting held at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing yesterday afternoon.

The Prime Minister has instructed the officials to work hard to fulfill the role expected by the people during the period of 5 years.

The Prime Minister focused on the progress of the institutions under the State Ministry of Urban Development, Coast Conservation, Waste Disposal and Public Sanitation and their operational projects.

It was also revealed that 26 out of the 35 Colombo Metro projects implemented under the World Bank project have been completed by now.

The remaining 9 projects are scheduled to be completed before the end of this year.

Accordingly, attention has been paid to carry out these projects using local engineers
