Colombo-Puttalam main road closed for 36 hours at Negombo-Galkanda junction
The Colombo-Puttalam A3 main road was temporarily closed for 36 hours from 6.00 am today (06) due to repairs being carried out at the Negombo-Galkanda Junction railway crossing.
Accordingly, the Police Headquarters announced that this road will be closed until 6.00 pm tomorrow (07).
As a result, the police have announced alternative routes.
Police said that vehicles traveling from Chilaw to Colombo will be diverted to Old Chilaw Road, Koppara Junction, Thelwatta Junction, Bucket Junction, Negombo via Archdiocese Nicholas Marcus Fernando Mawatha, Galkanda to Colombo and those travelling to Colombo from Periyamulla Junction will be diverted towards the left and can drive towards Colombo through Pankada Junction, Temple Junction, Bolawalana Junction and Kurana 20th mile post.
Vehicles traveling from Colombo to Chilaw can turn left at the Galkanda railway crossing and enter Negombo via Archbishop Nicholas Marcus Fernando Mawatha and proceed towards Chilaw via Thelwatta Junction, Koppara Junction and Old Chilaw Road.
Meanwhile, due to the repair work on the Galkanda railway crossing, train services on the Puttalam route will be restricted to the Katunayake railway station today and tomorrow
