Colombo Port Eastern Terminal: 'Final decision yet to be taken' - Cabinet Spokesperson

Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that a final decision on the Colombo Port East Terminal is yet to be taken. He stated the above while responding to a question raised by a journalist at a media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday (26).

"There are debates and discussions going on in this regard. The Cabinet didn’t make a decision, it didn’t even go to a Parliament. Also, if 49% is invested in the stock market, 51% will always be kept with the government.”

The Minister added that this was not the final decision and further decisions were held in this regard.

Minister Rambukwella noted that decisions to be taken on the basis of those discussions would change and that a flexible policy would be adopted for the betterment of the country in the end.

He also stated that the government has a sense of geopolitics and will take a decision taking all these factors into consideration.
