Dr Padeniya's contempt of court case fixed for March

The Court of Appeal today adjourned the hearing of the contempt of court case filed against Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya until 03 March.

In January 2017, a student who graduated from SAITM Private Medical College filed a petition in the Court of Appeal seeking registration with the Medical Council.

The President of the Government Medical Officers' Association Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya had made a statement in Colombo in April of that year regarding the decision given at that meeting.

Accordingly, Prof. Sarath Wijesuriya filed a case alleging contempt of court.

When the case was taken up today, the lawyer representing Dr. Padeniya informed the Court of Appeal that his client was being
subjected to self-quarantine.
