According to regional correspondents, 51 new Covid cases have been reported in the Vavuniya District yesterday (11) evening.

The Vavuniya PHI office have reported stated that a total of 121 Covid infected persons have been identified termed as a new cluster in the Vavuniya District.

This was after a pregnant woman in Pattanchichur, Vavuniya area was diagnosed with Covid infection.

PCR tests were carried out on shop owners and shop employees on six main roads in Vavuniya where relatives of the infected woman were travelled.

Following the discovery of the infected persons in Vavuniya, the health authorities had closed several roads including Vavuniya Bazaar Street, Dharmalingam Mawatha, Market Street, Vavuniya Kandasami kovil Street, First Cross Street, Second Cross Street and Mill Street yesterday. 

Public Health Inspectors urge people not to come to Vavuniya except in emergencies.
