Weather update 11 December: Showers in several areas
The Meteorological Department warns that showers can be expected in many parts of the island due to the turbulent nature of the lower atmosphere near Sri Lanka.
The Department warns that the sky will be overcast throughout the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in many parts of the island today (11).
Elsewhere, showers of more than 100 mm are possible at some places.
Wind speeds in the North, North Central and Trincomalee districts will increase up to 40-50 kmph at times.
