Over 8,000kg of dry turmeric seized in Northwestern sea
The Navy has seized another 8769 kilograms of dry turmeric which were being smuggled into the country by sea.
The consignment of turmeric along with 12 Indian nationals was apprehended during a special search operation conducted by the Navy off the North Western coast recently.
The 12 Indians and their equipment are to be handed over to the Katunayake Customs Prevention Office for legal action.
