Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed State Minister in charge of the subject D.B. Herath to solve the problems of large and small scale egg producers.
This was after the representatives of the All Ceylon Egg Producers Associations met the Prime Minister yesterday and raised their issues.
Representatives of these associations have drawn the attention of the Prime Minister to several areas including the provision of credit facilities, limiting the number of imported mother birds to 80,000 per year and the purchase of animal feed.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said that the Prime Minister had instructed the State Minister in charge to provide the relevant credit facilities and resolve the problems faced by the egg producers.
