More labs to facilitate PCR testing in Sri Lanka; requests forwarded to UN
The Ministry of Health has decided to establish another 05 advanced technology laboratories which will facilitate PCR testing.
Dr. Jayasundara Bandara, the Project Director of the Sri Lanka COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project, speaking to News 1st said two laboratories will be set up at the National Hospital in Colombo.
In addition, two laboratories will be established at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital.
One laboratory will be set up at the Kalutara Hospital, Kegalle Hospital, and the Kurunegala Hospital.
Dr. Jayasundara Bandara said requests were forwarded to the United Nations for the laboratory equipment and they are expected within the next two months.
At present, there are 20 laboratories in Sri Lanka that facilitate PCR testing.
