Colombo District reports highest number of COVID patients yesterday

Among the 535 COVID cases that were reported in the last 24 hours, 148 patients were identified from the Colombo District.
From the Gampaha District 59 persons were identified, while 111 cases were identified from the Kandy District.

Since the beginning of the second coronavirus wave, 19,763 COVID cases were identified from the Colombo District, while 10,130 cases were reported from the Gampaha District during the same period.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka stands at 47,840, while the number of recoveries stands at 40,838. Another 6,773 patients are still receiving treatment.

The death toll in the country also increased to 229 yesterday (09). The details of the victims are as below.

A 74-year-old female from Mount Lavinia died at the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death was identified as COVID pneumonia and a worsening case of asthma.

A 64-year-old male from Kattankudy died at the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death was identified to be COVID pneumonia.

A 76-year-old male from Wellampitiya died at the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death was identified to be blood poisoning and COVID pneumonia.

A 58-year-old male from Opanayaka died at the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death was identified to be COVID pneumonia.
