Colombo District reports highest number of COVID patients yesterday
Among the 484 COVID patients that were identified yesterday (05) 121 cases were identified from the Colombo District, while 110 cases were identified from the Gampaha District and 30 cases were identified from the Galle District.
Since the beginning of the second coronavirus wave on 04 October, until yesterday (05), 18,990 COVID cases were identified as 9,830 cases were identified from the Gampaha District within the same period.
The number of COVID patients in Sri Lanka stands at 45,726, with the number of recoveries at 38,262, while 7,247 patients are still receiving treatment.
The death toll in the country also increased to 217, with the two COVID deaths which were reported yesterday (05). Details of the deceased are as below.
A 68-year-old female from Matale died at the Matale District Hospital. The cause of death was identified to be respiratory tract infection with a COVID-19 infection.
A 75-year-old female from Kalutara died at the Kalutara General Hospital. The cause of death was identified to be blood poisoning and asthma with a COVID-19 infection.
