MORE TRAINS TO RESUME OPERATIONS TOMORROW (07)
The Department of Railway has decided to increase the number of train journeys from Thursday (Jan. 07), the Railways Department said.
The decision was taken with the increase in the number of passengers who commute via trains, due to the relaxation of COVID-19 travel restrictions, the department said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan. 06).
Accordingly, the slow trains from Colombo Fort to Polgahawela & from Colombo Fort to Kurunegala and the Galle Kumari train from Beliatta to Maradana will resume operations.
The Ruhunu Kumari train travelling from Matara to Maradana will also be added to the service from tomorrow.
The Aluthgama – Maradana Office Train, Beliatta – Maradana Express Train, Aluthgama – Maradana Mixed Train, Fort – Puttalam Mixed Train, and Fort – Anuradhapura Mail Train will also operate from Thursday (Jan. 07), the Railway Department further noted.
