Pictures : Smart meters to replace electricity meters
The Ministry of Power expects to replace electricity meters with smart meters in Sri Lanka in the near future.
Minister Dullus Alahapperuma said the smart meters are to be manufactured by ANTE LECO Metering Company (Pvt) Ltd, which supplied electro mechanical meters in 2014.
The company produces 2,000 new smart electric meters a day and has already sold nearly 100,000 smart meters in the country.
Minister Alahapperuma undertook an inspection tour to the company to observe the manufacturing process of the new smart meters.
