Frozen coconuts to be imported
The Coconut Development Authority stated that the program to import frozen coconut will commence from this week to minimize the problems faced by the industrialists associated with the shortage of coconuts in the island.
Its director, P.S. Edirimanne said that they would also start importing frozen coconut from Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing last year, there is a shortage of coconuts in the country and the price of coconuts has also increased sharply.
