Global Covid-19 cases top 80 m
The current global caseload of the Covid-19 virus stands at 80,193,344.
The death toll is 1,756,939.
The US is the worst-hit country with the highest number of cases and deaths at 18,756,230 and 330,244, respectively.
Meanwhile, health authorities in France confirmed the first case of the new variant detected in the UK.
The public health agency said in a statement that a French man had arrived in France from England on 19 December and tested positive for the variant yesterday (25).
