Special operation in search of those who take part in races on main roads
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that a special operation will be launched from today (07) in search of persons driving carelessly on the main roads as well as by roads
He stated that these raids follow the accident that took place in Egoda Uyana, Moratuwa where a motorcycle collision took the lives of two children, while their pregnant mother sustained major injuries and killing her fetus as well
DIG Ajith Rohana stated that accordingly, a group of youths and 24 motorcycles were taken into police custody during a raid carried out on a tip-off received that such a motorcycle race was to be held in the Kimbulawala last night (06).
Arrangements were made to file a case against them in the future. The Police Media Spokesperson further stated that if such races are held in the future, they will be arrested.
