Covid-19: Spike in daily cases from Gampaha
Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 figures soared on Monday (30 November), as 503 persons were tested positive for the virus.
The Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster registered 496 of the latest infections, while the remaining six were identified as arrivals from foreign countries – three from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), one from Qatar, one from Uganda, and two seafarers.
The Colombo District continues to lead the daily cases tally with the 147 positive cases reported from the region on Monday, while the Gampaha District confirmed 130 infections and the Kandy District followed with 41.
With the new development, infections confirmed in the country so far climbed to 23,987, of which 17,560 had made complete recoveries.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 6,309 active cases are still under medical care at selected hospitals and treatment centres.
In the meantime, the total number of deaths stands at 118.
