GMOA warns of spread of COVID beyond Colombo Municipal Council limits
The Government Medical Officers' Association has warned that if proper measures are no taken to control the spread of COVID-19 in the Atalugama, Bandaragama, there is a risk of the virus spreading beyond the limits of the Colombo Municipal Council to the Kalutara District.
Among the 503 patients that were identified yesterday (30), 496 patients were patients associated with the Minuwangoda Brandix factory and the Peliyagoda fish factory coronavirus clusters. The remaining seven patients were identified to be overseas returnees who were undergoing quarantine.
The National Operational Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak stated that among the patients identified yesterday (30), 147 patients were reported from the Colombo District, 130 patients from the Gampaha District and 41 patients from the Kandy District.
The total number of patients reported in Sri Lanka also increased to 23,987, where 6,309 patients are still receiving treatment at hospitals, while 17,560 patients have recovered thus far.
Meanwhile, the number of police officers diagnosed with COVID is declining, said Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.
Meanwhile, two COVID deaths were reported yesterday (30) increasing the death toll to 118.
