Two deaths were reported yesterday and the number of coronavirus deaths in the country increased to 96.

Meanwhile, with 502 new coronavirus infections being reported yesterday, the total number of infected people in the country has increased to 21,469.

The Government Information Department announced that all those identified yesterday were from the Peliyagoda Covid cluster.

Accordingly, the number of infected people in Minuwangoda Brandix and Peliyagoda Covid cluster has increased to 17,938. A further 5,926 patients were hospitalized and 15,447 were cured.

Meanwhile, 116 Sri Lankans who were unable to return to Sri Lanka arrived at the Katunayake Airport this morning from three Middle Eastern countries. The delegation included 42 Sri Lankans from the United Arab Emirates, 39 Sri Lankans from Qatar and 35 Sri Lankans staying in Oman.

Meanwhile, MP Rishard Bathiudeen who was released on bail yesterday is scheduled to undergo a PCR test today. Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya stated that he would be quarantined for 14 days thereafter.
