4920 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Colombo since March: Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni
A total of 4920 COVID-19 cases were confirmed from the Colombo city, since March this year, Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, the Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Colombo Municipal Council said on Saturday (Nov. 21).
According to Dr. Wijayamuni, 620 of the cases were recorded during the second wave, connected to the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster.
A total of 21,512 PCR tests were conducted to detect these cases in Colombo city.
“Around 200 PCR tests per day were conducted in the Colombo city limits in the past, and the rate of PCR tests has now been increased to 1000 tests per day based on instructions from the Ministry of Health,” Dr. Wijayamuni told News 1st.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 19,280.
