PCR tests at Mulleriyawa laboratory disrupted

A malfunction hinders the carrying out of PCR tests at the laboratory at the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, says director general of health services Dr. Asela Gunawardena.

Participating in Hiru TV’s ‘Pattare Visthare’ programme, he said the laboratory’s functions could be normalized today.

The Covid-19 caseload in Sri Lanka presently stands at 16,583, including 13,084 in the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters.

Of them, 11,324 have recovered, while 5,206 remain in hospital.

The Health Ministry’s chief epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera says the cluster at the Brandix factory at Minuwangoda is now receding.

Meanwhile, 128 Sri Lankans returned home from the UAE, Qatar and China since last night and were sent for quarantine following PCR tests
