The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) has announced plans to establish permanent office premises for all its member leagues across the country as part of a major administrative reform aimed at strengthening football governance at the grassroots level.

The announcement was made by FFSL President Jaswar Umar during the FFSL Annual Ordinary Congress held in Nuwara Eliya, which was attended by representatives of all 61 member leagues, delegates and invited guests.

The initiative forms part of FFSL’s new strategic development programme, titled “The Next Chapter”, which aims to guide the future growth of football in Sri Lanka.

Addressing the Congress, Umar said every football league should have a permanent office from which it can serve clubs, players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders.

He noted that many regional leagues currently operate from temporary locations or private residences, creating administrative challenges and limiting access to football-related services.

According to the FFSL, the proposed offices will provide leagues with recognised administrative centres, improve governance, strengthen record-keeping and communication, and enhance financial accountability and service delivery.

The federation said the programme is aligned with its broader vision of decentralising football development and empowering regional institutions to play a greater role in the growth of the sport.

FFSL said the initiative is expected to strengthen football administration at district level while improving the visibility and credibility of member leagues within their respective communities.
