Sri Lanka Cricket overhaul begins with ‘Transformation Committee’
The newly appointed committee to oversee Sri Lanka Cricket is not an interim body but a “cricket transformation committee,” Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage said, after appointing the new Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC)Transformation Committee.
“This is not an interim committee. What we need is not an interim arrangement, but a transformation,” he said following the appointment.
The minister said the committee has been tasked with restructuring and improving the country’s cricket system.
“We want to transform cricket in Sri Lanka and take it from where it is now to a better place. That is a challenging task,” he said.
He added that the committee will function until fresh elections are held, focusing on administrative and structural reforms aimed at rebuilding the sport.
