Sri Lankan Airlines Boosts Colombo–Melbourne Flights
SriLankan Airlines has announced an expansion of its services between Colombo and Melbourne, increasing connectivity between Sri Lanka and Australia.
The national carrier says it will increase its weekly flights between the two cities to ten, starting from the 2nd of August this year. The move comes in response to growing passenger demand and the rapid growth of Australia as an inbound tourism market to Sri Lanka.
The additional flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. These flights will depart Colombo at 2:10 in the afternoon and arrive in Melbourne at 4:30 the following morning. The return services will leave Melbourne at 6:00 in the morning and arrive in Colombo at 12:15 in the afternoon.
SriLankan Airlines says its existing daily service between Colombo and Melbourne will continue to operate as scheduled, ensuring seamless connections to destinations across the airline’s network, including several cities in India.
The airline notes that the increased frequency will provide greater convenience for Sri Lankans traveling between the two countries, particularly the Sri Lankan diaspora living in Australia.
The expanded schedule is also expected to benefit Sri Lankan students studying in Australia, allowing them more flexibility to travel during academic breaks and holidays.
SriLankan Airlines says the additional flights will further strengthen Colombo’s position as a regional hub, enabling passengers particularly from India to connect to Melbourne via Sri Lanka more conveniently.
