Weerawansa Requests Another Date for Statement
Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has informed the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit that he is unable to appear at the police station today (12) to provide a statement.
Weerawansa had been summoned to appear before the Tangalle Division Criminal Investigation Unit at 10 a.m. in connection with an investigation into a public statement by him alleging that Beliatta Sanaa, who was arrested on drug-related charges, is an active member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).
Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa had already provided a statement to the Tangalle Division Criminal Investigation Unit on the 9th of October regarding the same incident.
He has reportedly sought an alternative date to appear again and provide his statement.
