
Hidden Cigarette Cache Worth Millions Uncovered
Sri Lankan Customs have seized a substantial consignment of illegally imported foreign cigarettes.
Customs spokesperson Sivali Arukgoda stated that the cigarettes were discovered hidden in a warehouse within the Colombo Port premises.
The consignment, consisting of 713,000 foreign cigarettes valued at over 120 million rupees, was found concealed among goods imported from the United Arab Emirates by a company in the Padukka area.
The Customs spokesperson revealed that the illegal importation of these cigarettes has resulted in a loss of over 100 million rupees to the government.
