Sri Lanka Arrests Canadian Woman For Drug Smuggling
A 20-year-old Canadian woman was apprehended at Bandaranaike International Airport for attempting to smuggle a substantial quantity of hashish into the country.
The arrest took place as airport narcotics officers discovered 17 kilograms and 573 grams of the illicit substance concealed within her luggage, specifically hidden among her bedding items.
Authorities have yet to determine the street value of the seized drugs.
The suspect is currently in custody as further investigations are being conducted by the airport's narcotics control agency.
