CAA to Submit Rice Stock Report to President
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced that it will submit a report on the country's rice stocks to the President this week.
The CAA is currently conducting an investigation into the stocks of rice and paddy.
This investigation is being carried out in several districts, including Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Ampara.
The CAA is assessing the stocks held by small and medium-scale rice mill owners as well as those held by large-scale mill owners.
The CAA also stated that raids have been initiated to identify locations selling rice above the controlled price.
The controlled price for Nadu rice has been set at Rs. 220. The CAA emphasized that legal action will be taken against those selling Nadu rice above this price.
Following a recent discussion with rice mill owners regarding the shortage of Nadu rice in the market, the President instructed the CAA to prepare a report on the market's rice and paddy stocks.
