Election Processions Banned Until Presidential Election Conclusion

Starting today, the holding of election processions has been banned until the conclusion of the presidential election.

The police have instructed all stations to enforce this law strictly to ensure compliance.

Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Asanka Karavita announced that the removal of illegally displayed posters, banners, and cutouts used for presidential election campaigns will also begin today.

The National Election Commission has approved the recruitment of workers specifically for this task.

The recruitment process, which covers all parts of the island, is expected to be completed in the next few days.

Police headquarters is overseeing these recruitments and has sanctioned the deployment of workers to remove illegal billboards until September 21, the date of the presidential election.
