Special Traffic & Security Plan For Nomination Day

Sri Lanka Police said that a special traffic and security program will be in place during the period in which nomination papers will be accepted by the Election Commission for the September 21 Presidential Election.

In a bid to ensure peace and security, Sri Lanka Police will deploy more than 1,000 officers, including personnel from the Police Special Task Force, across key areas around the Election Commission in Rajagiriya.

This comprehensive security measure will include the installation of roadblocks and the deployment of mobile patrols, said Acting Police Spokesperson DIG Ruwan Gunasekera.

Additionally, 300 police officers will be assigned specifically to manage traffic flow.

A special traffic plan will be in effect from 8 AM to 2 PM, aimed at minimizing congestion and ensuring smooth movement.

Traffic Restrictions:

- The exit lane on Sri Jayawardenapura Road from Ayurveda Junction to Rajagiriya Junction will be completely restricted.

- Motorists are urged to avoid using Sri Jayawardenapura Road from Polduwa Junction to DS Senanayake Junction unless absolutely essential.

- Avoid Cotta Road, Ayurveda Junction, and Old Kotte Road from Rajagiriya Junction to Borella Junction during this period unless necessary.

Presidential candidates facing travel difficulties due to vehicular congestion, assistance can be sought by calling 0718 591 741 or 0112 433 333.
