Namal Rajapaksa Named As SLPP Presidential Candidate
MP Namal Rajapaksa named as the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramna candidate for the upcoming presidential elections.
Rajapaksa, 38, is the youngest candidate in this election.
Who is Namal Rajapaksa?
He is the eldest son of the country’s former president and prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Namal contested the 2010 parliamentary election from Hambantota District and was elected to Parliament.
He was re-elected as an MP in 2015 and 2020.
He was appointed as the National Organiser of the SLPP in March 2024.
