Train Derailment in Kalutara South Delays Coastal Line Services

The Department Railways has announced delays on the coastal line due to a train derailment in Kalutara South this morning.


A train traveling from Maradana to Kalutara derailed near the Kalutara South station. Passengers can expect delays on the coastal line departing from Kalutara onwards.

Several office train journeys have been canceled today and tomorrow by the Railway Department, while inter-city services will operate as usual.

Additionally, the department has scheduled six special train journeys.

Deputy General Manager A.H. Panduka Swarnahansa said, To accommodate travelers heading to their villages, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will deploy extra buses.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board announced it will deploy additional buses for today and tomorrow, similar to the past few days.
