The Sri Lanka Transport Board has taken proactive steps to ensure a smooth travel experience for citizens heading to villages during the festive season.

With an influx of travelers expected, a total of 1400 buses have been prepared to cater to the convenience of those embarking on journeys to their hometowns. These buses will operate from various locations, facilitating safe and efficient travel.

SLTB Deputy General Manager, Panduka Swarnahansa, anticipates a surge in passengers at the central bus stand starting today. The bustling hub will serve as a departure point for many travelers seeking to reunite with their families during the festivities.

The National Transport Commission has extended travel times to accommodate the increased demand. This adjustment aims to minimize inconvenience for passengers during this celebratory period.

The hotline number 1919 is operational round the clock, ensuring prompt assistance and addressing any harassment incidents, he added.

Starting tomorrow, special train services will be available for those traveling to villages.

Sri Lanka Railways added 12 special trains to the daily schedule, ensuring efficient connectivity.

These special trains will operate on the following routes:

- Colombo Fort to:
- Galle
- Matara
- Beliaatta
- Kandy
- Hatton
- Badulla
- Bandarawela
- Nanu Oya
