Rs. 1 Bn for Maha Season Paddy Procurement
The Paddy Marketing Board has recently secured 1,000 million rupees to support the procurement of paddy during the Maha Season.
This funding comprises 500 million rupees from the Treasury and an additional 500 million rupees from the Farmer Trust Fund.
To efficiently manage the purchase process, the Paddy Marketing Board has established two warehouses in each district where paddy cultivation occurs.
These warehouses will facilitate the acquisition of the harvest.
Over the past five days, the Paddy Marketing Board has successfully procured 904,202 kilograms of paddy. The total expenditure for this endeavor amounts to 95 million rupees.
In anticipation of further demand, the Paddy Marketing Board has prepared 241 additional paddy warehouses across seven zones.
These warehouses will be operational as needed to accommodate future paddy purchases.
The current market rates for paddy are as follows:
Nadu: Rs. 105 per kilogram
Samba: Rs. 120 per kilogram
Keeri Samba: Rs. 130 per kilogram
Additionally, an adjournment debate in Parliament is scheduled for this afternoon. The discussion will address various challenges faced by farmers, including issues related to selling their harvest.
