6 Sri Lankan Fishermen On Hunger Strike in Seychelles, Demand Repatriation
6 Sri Lankan fishermen who are being held at a port in Seychelles following their rescue from an armed group, have launched a hunger strike, demanding their immediate repatriation.
The 6 fishermen were serving on board the Lorenzo Putha 4 multi-day fishing trawler.
The trawler had departed the Dikovita port on the 12th of January, on its maiden voyage.
3 of the 6 fishermen are of the same family.
While engaging in fishing activities, the group was captured by an armed group.
They were later rescued by the Seychelles authorities.
They are currently being held by the authorities, at a port of the islands.
