Commuters in Colombo should be prepared for temporary traffic disruptions until Saturday (3), as the city gears up for Independence Day rehearsals. 

Sri Lanka Police have implemented a special traffic plan around Galle Face to facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles during rehearsals.

The special traffic plan is in effect from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM and again from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

The following roads will be closed during the aforementioned periods:

Galle Face Round About to NSA Roundabout
Chaitya Road
Colpetty Junction to Galle Face Roundabout
Colpetty Station Road
St. Michael Road to Galle Road
Rotunda Roundabout to Galle Road
Ceramic Junction to NSA Roundabout
York Street to Bank of Ceylon Mawatha 
York Street to Chatham Street
York Street to Mudalige Mawatha
York Street to Sir Baron Jayathilake Mawatha
Khan Clock Tower Roundabout to Main Street, and YMBA Roundabout 

A separate traffic plan will be in place for Independence Day itself on February 4th.
