Number of containers of goods imported daily increases from 700 to 1000, says State Minister of Finance.
State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that businessmen have imported a large amount of goods before the VAT revision comes into effect from the 1st of January 2024.
The State Minister said that although about 700 containers of essential goods were being imported daily, during the past few days, that value had risen to about 1,000 containers.
The State Minister added that organic fertilizers have been exempted from the Value Added Tax.
