The number of dengue-related deaths reported in Sri Lanka so far this year has increased to 55.
The National Dengue Control Unit of the Ministry of Health said five deaths were reported over the past week.
It added that a 58-year-old man from Battaramulla, a 32-year-old woman from Kurunegala, a 67-year-old woman from Kilinochchi, a 23-year-old man from Kopay, Jaffna, and an 11-year-old boy from Jaffna died of dengue.
86,576 dengue patients have been reported in Sri Lanka so far this year.
The National Dengue Control Unit said 10,082 dengue cases were reported this month alone.
62 MOH divisions have been named as dengue high-risk areas.
The highest number of dengue cases, 18,309, are reported from the Colombo district.
